TYPEWRITING RITUALS
Working as an assistant for the multi-awarded best selling author is a dream.
From a sea of applicants that fell in line in order to work for and be mentored by him, I, a creative writing undergraduate, was the one he picked.
Working under the author was not an easy task though. He was so well sought after that four hours of his weekdays and sometimes weekends would be booked for talks and workshops. He also had a lot of book launching and signing events.
My job was to organize everything for him. He also asked me to stay with him 24 hours a day. The job is difficult but definitely worthwhile. I learned a lot about the publishing industry from him. He also gave me a lot of insights how to write my own stuff. He allows me to have time writing while he was idle or resting.
However, in a year, there would be three months of uninterrupted writing retreats. I accompany him in these retreats. He wants me to be there while he writes.
He does have silly rituals, like first, he always wrote in the nude and used a typewritter for his drafts. He says that nudity strips him off of bodily interruptions. He also likes the sound of the typewritter. These keep him focused.
The author has a great, lean body. He has all the right to be nude.
He can write and type away for twelve hours straight. Then he will come to me to destress.
"Hottie. I finished twelve chapters. I need to feel human again," he tells me. Then he turns and shows his ass.
